Expedition Mode

Nightreign — Three Days in Limveld

Expedition Mode runs Nightreign's own loop. You get three days in Limveld and a single detour each day, and every site you visit reports a different kind of intel about the Night Lord waiting on the third night. Choose badly and you reach nightfall knowing the wrong things — and each failed night lets the Night's Tide swallow another site you never reached.

How to Play Expedition Mode

  1. At each dawn, choose one Limveld site to detour to. You only get one per day.
  2. The site reports its intel: an affliction, a shape, an arena, a tactic, a sealed riddle, or a place on the Nightlord roll.
  3. Name the Night Lord you believe is coming. Five charges, ten candidates.
  4. A wrong name ends the night and the Night's Tide swallows one site you have not scouted.
  5. Three nights means three pieces of intel at most — so scout what actually narrows the field.

The Six Sites

  • Church of Vows — the Sacrament reads the affliction the Night Lord stacks on your trio.
  • Fort — a surviving warband describes the shape it takes: beast, dragon, insect, aberration, humanoid.
  • Sorcerer's Rise — a sealed verse that names nothing outright.
  • Evergaol — the bound one recalls how it actually fights.
  • Township Ruins — old tracks pointing to the arena the third night will be held in.
  • Main Encampment — a seized ledger giving its entry on the Nightlord roll.

The Night Lords

Ten Night Lords sit in the pool, each with its own expedition name, arena, affliction and signature tactic:

  • Gladius, Beast of Night — Tricephalos. Sunders into three and hunts from every side.
  • Adel, Baron of Night — Gaping Jaw. Swallows a Nightfarer whole and spits the body back.
  • Gnoster, Wisdom of Night — Sentient Pest. Two bodies, one mind; the halves never strike together.
  • Maris, Fathom of Night — Augur. Drifts above every blade and calls the sky down.
  • Libra, Creature of Night — Equilibrious Beast. Offers a bargain and honours it exactly.
  • Fulghor, Champion of Nightglow — Darkdrift Knight. Crosses the arena in a single charge.
  • Caligo, Miasma of Night — Fissure in the Fog. Hides inside its own weather.
  • Heolstor, the Nightlord — Night Aspect. Fights you twice; the second shape remembers.
  • Weapon-Bequeathed Harmonia — seven descend as one, from the Forsaken Hollows.
  • Traitorous Straghess — everything it kills is drawn into the mass.
